Nokia has brought another new software addition to the N9, called swiping. When users are in an application on the device, they can swipe from the edge of the display to get back to the home screen. According to Nokia, there are three "home views" in the software that let users access applications, get notifications and social-network updates, and switch between different functions.
Seems that PR1.2 update for N9 will also bring apps update notification feature to N9. According to Nokia developer website, the upcoming MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan update (PR 1.2) features improved support for application updates. The updated platform software will detect and announce updates to applications that are distributed through the Nokia Store.

At the same time the team size grew and so did the bureaucracy with it. This caused lessening of agility in the software development, which slowed down the development. Especially the improvement suggestions that came from the MeeGo team developers were hard to get accepted and many left the improvement suggestions unmade because of this. One example of this was told to have been the up-down swiping gesture in the Swipe User interface, which closes the current application. The suggestion was knocked down right away, but the developer did not give up, sharing the example of the functionality for others to test instead. As a result there was a several hundred message long conversation thread in the Bugzilla, which was the internal bug reporting system at Nokia, where the management and developers confronted each other over this feature. Finally the feature was included and in PR 1.1 software update it was in use as a default. 2ff7e9595c
